My stay at the hotel was underwhelming. the location left much to be desired, with little nearby interest. While the room was clean and well-decorated, the amenities were lacking compared to my expectations. Overall, there are better choices in Shanghai.

Rooms
6.0
The room was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. though the amenities felt basic for the price. I appreciated the two free bottles of water and the large bathroom with a bathtub, but it didn't leave a lasting impression.
Service
5.0
Staff were generally helpful but communication was a challenge. it was a bit frustrating that no one spoke fluent English. I noticed a certain indifference from the reception towards European guests, which was disappointing.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location was a significant drawback. there was little nearby that captured my interest. Although there were a few restaurants across from the hotel, it didn't feel convenient overall.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was included, but I found it lacking in quality and variety. the crowded area and smoking made it less enjoyable. Compared to other hotels I've visited in China, this one did not meet the standard.
Facilities
5.0
The internet was exorbitantly priced at 60 Yuan per hour, which was the highest I encountered. alongside worn carpets and tired facilities, it gave the impression that the hotel needs updates.

My stay at the Mandarin Hotel in Shanghai had its ups and downs. While the staff were friendly and the room was clean, the overall experience was marred by several drawbacks, including the poor location and some dated facilities. I noticed the breakfast options were decent, but not of higher quality, leading to my mixed feelings about the place. 🌆🔍

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was clean and tidy, offering basic amenities with a large bathroom. It had a comfortable bed, which was a pleasant surprise as most beds in China are hard. However, the lack of English television channels above the 16th floor was disappointing.
Service
5.0
The staff were generally nice and made efforts to be helpful, but their lack of training was evident, especially in handling English-speaking guests. I often had to repeat myself, which was frustrating.
Location
5.0
The hotel's location is a bit off, with not much of interest nearby. While there are some nice restaurants close by, accessing main attractions required taxi rides, which were around 15 minutes into the town center.
Dining
5.0
The breakfast was decent with options like eggs, bacon, and toast, but it wasn't anything to rave about. I also noticed a strong smell of smoke in the dining area, which was quite off-putting.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel is in need of renovations, especially in the corridors where carpets were worn out. The internet pricing was surprisingly high compared to other places I've stayed in China.

I enjoyed my stay at the Mandarin Hotel, especially appreciating the clean and tidy room, although it felt a bit small for two. The breakfast had a good variety, which I loved, but I wish the English TV channels were accessible in my room. Overall, the pricing is reasonable, and the location is ideal for nearby dining options.

Rooms
7.0
The room was clean and cozy, featuring a soft bed, though it was a bit small. I would recommend requesting a room below the 16th floor for English TV channels next time.
Service
6.0
The staff were friendly and worked hard to assist, though language barriers made some communication challenging.
Location
8.0
The hotel is conveniently situated next to nice restaurants and shopping centers, making it easy to explore the local area.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was quite good with options like eggs, bacon, and toast, although hot orange juice was a bit odd.
Facilities
6.0
While the facilities were decent, they could use some renovations such as addressing the toilet flushing issue.
